A word to those who matter most.....
To the Marines, staff and officers of detachment #337,
Thank you, so much for the wonderful work you all have been doing. A good view of how an organization operates can be seen by how well it operates without the person in charge for a spell. I feel so very blessed to have a focused and disciplined team that I can trust while I'm away. You are all such wonderful team players and I can't say thank you enough.
I look forward to seeing you all again,
Semper Fidelis

Last nights meeting went superbly! I am excited to see the way things are progressing and the way everyone works together so well. I want to welcome Mrs. Tonda to the detachment as the new adjutant. I am both relieved and grateful that there are good people willing to step up to the challenges left in the wake of recent events. I would also like to thank the Washington State Department Commandant, Dan Abbott ,and the Department Senior Vice Commandant, Rex Hopper, for coming all the way from Squim, WA to attend the meeting last night. I appreciate the guidance, dedication, and professionalism that both gentlemen presented. I look forward to working with both men in the future, and I look forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting. Semper Fidelis!

Det. meeting July 2, 2012
Good work Monday night Marines. Things are moving along nicely. I am sorry to see my adjutant go, but I do believe it to be in the best interest of the detachment.
My congratulations go out to Mr. Elmer Bailey, the new detachment Paymaster. I look forward to working with this Marine.
Look for the info on the detachment yardsale as I am moving forward with that plan. I will also be getting with Old Country Buffett as they have a fundraising program there too.
I will keep everyone posted as things progress.

Finally! I have set up a proper Facebook page for the detachment! It just started so don't expect much. www.facebook.com/mcldet337. Hey, at least it's a page.
I want to ask the same thing here that I did in the last post I posted on Facebook. How many Marines would be interested in a Mess Night?

Detachment Meeting April 2, 2012
I cannot say how grateful I am for everyone's patience last night. It may have been a rough start, but the meeting did go pretty well. Many good items were discussed and I feel confident that we are taking very good steps toward being the best and brightest detachment in the state. My two main priorities are membership and money. Without these two things we are basically dead in the water. We will get to where we need to be. Of this, I am sure.

Washington Department Meeting
I was. I knew I would be. I was the youngest Marine there. The only guy close to my age was a few years older than I am. That's ok, when one Marine blurted out that I am just a kid I wanted to turn around and tell him he may be right, but I'm the kid that has more kills on his belt than there are people in this room! I'm still wondering if I should've shot back at him with that. Maybe next time.
On to the meat and potatos of this post. And before I forget, congratulations goes to my adjutant Pam Pineda as she is now an official member of the Marine Corps League Auxilliary. OOH-RAH!
In addition to myself, my adjutant, paymaster, and judge advocate were all in attendence. The meeting was much more informal than I was expecting. Anthony Tonda, my judge advocate, had told me that the meetings were much more informal than they were in the past. When the meeting started the number of Marines in attendence was impressive. 15 of the 17 detachments in the department were represented. There was standing room only. Nothing really impressive or overly important had happened in the meeting. There a lot of learning and soaking up of information on my part though. For example: one of the other detachments had gotten prisoners from the local prison to help with packing the toys collected during the T4T campaign last year. I'm sure those inmates would have come in handy for those bikes that our detachment received last year.
Plenty of new things learned, and many ideas bouncing around in my head as to how we can improve our detachment. I look forward to the detachment meeting tonight.
Semper Fidelis, Marines!
